1. How It Works: Instead of being centered on individuals, MIXTT is centered on groups. Essentially, you and your group of friends meet another group of friends.

First, you sign yourself up for the site and create a profile. Then, you can create a group and invite your friends to it - or join a pre-existing group. You search for other groups by region, age group, make-up (guys, girls, or both), and keywords. When you see a group that interests you, make contact either by sending them a message or asking them out. You can communicate with either a single Member or the whole Group.

The other major difference between MIXTT and regular social networking and dating websites is the Social Calendar. Use the calendar to post your groups' plans - what bars, parties, or events you're going to be at - and to see where other people are planning to be too!

2. Signing Up: Registering to use the site truly is easy and completely free. Just click Sign Up on the homepage, create a username and password, and fill in your personal information. The next step is either to create a group and invite your friends to join, or continue by building your own personal profile (you can always create/join groups later).

3. Your Profile: This is the section you can share photos and information about yourself, apart from any groups that you are a part of.

4. Group Profile: This is the section you share photos and information about your group - photos of you together, places you like to hang out, etc.

5. Groups:

  • a. Creating a group: You can create a group of anywhere from one to eight people - all guys, all girls, or mixed. Go to Your Groups and select "Create another group" from the dropdown menu. Create a name for the group, then fill out the emails or usernames (if they are already MIXTT members) of the people you'd like to invite. Once they accept your invitation, they'll become a part of your group! If you already have a group but want to add a member, invite them by clicking the Invite to Group link on their profile.
  • b. Joining a pre-existing group: Send a message to a group to which you'd like to be invited.
  • c. Group rules:
    • i. You are free to leave a group at any time.
    • ii. You cannot be "kicked out" of a group.
    • iii. Any group member can invite another person to the group. Therefore, we encourage you to discuss possible additions with your current group members before you invite others.

6. Keywords: Keywords are the descriptive part of your profile that makes you searchable. Members can search the site for other members by age, gender, location, and keyword. Your keywords should be things that are distinctive about you that other people might be looking for. They can be anything (excluding profanity or other offensive content) and in any particular order. You may enter up to 20, separated by commas. Here's an example list: surfing, Gnarls Barkley, jazz, travel, India, cheese, Hemingway, Entourage, sports, liberal, funny, generous, night owl, books, chill.

7. Searching: There are two ways to search for people on MIXTT. You can search for entire groups or just for individual people. In either case, you can specify the age range, gender, location, and keywords that you are looking for.

8. Calendar: Post your group's upcoming plans by clicking on a date and entering the details. Check out other groups' plans by clicking the Calendar link on their profile. These entries are meant to depict social plans that you would want to see other MIXTT members at: e.g., bars, clubs, concerts, sports games, etc. The idea is that you can see other people's plans, and if they interest you, maybe you should all go together.

9. Ask Out: A quick and simple way to ask someone and/or their group to join your group somewhere, without having to trade a bunch of preliminary emails back and forth. Just click the link by their profile and select any of the options (a bar, a party, a restaurant, etc.), or create your own.

10. Messages: You can send a message (like an email) to a member or to a whole group, and you can make it from just you or from your whole group. If a message is sent to a group, everyone in the group gets a copy in their inbox. Anyone can reply to the message, but they must reply all, to keep everyone looped in.

MIXTT will automatically send you an email to alert you when you have a new message in your inbox. If you want to receive these emails less frequently, you can adjust your preferences in Settings. You can elect just to get one email on days when you have new messages, or not to be emailed about new messages at all. If you elected to receive email notifications but are still not getting them, make sure to check your Spam mailbox and mark mails from MIXTT as not spam.

11. Favorites: You can add a group to your Favorites list by clicking the Add to Favorites link by their profile. This is a list that only you see - just for your own records. Members do not get notified and cannot tell if they are or are not on your Favorites list. You can remove a group from your Favorites list at any time by going to the Favorites tab and clicking the Remove from Favorites link by their profile.

Favorites are also handy for keeping up with the plans of groups that interest you. The calendar feed on your homepage will display the upcoming plans of your Favorite groups. If you have not elected any favorites, the calendar feed will display the upcoming plans of randomly selected groups in your area.

12. Inappropriate Content: Inappropriate Content includes any text or images that might be offensive, illegal, or that might violate the rights, harm, or threaten the safety of Members. MIXTT strictly prohibits content that promotes racism, bigotry, hatred or physical harm of any kind against any group or individual. Nudity is also forbidden on this website. For a more thorough list of what constitutes inappropriate content, click here.

Please help us keep the Site clean by clicking the Report Inappropriate Content link located on the bottom left-hand corner of any Member profile or Group profile that you belief contains inappropriate content. Even if you aren't sure, it's best to report the profile so that we can review it. Your report will be kept absolutely confidential, and we will not reveal your identity to the owner(s) of the profile in question.

13. Blocking: If you decide for any reason to block another member from contacting you, you can put this into effect in your Settings. That member may still be able to contact other members in your group(s), but he/she will be notified upon attempting to contact you that the action is not authorized. You can unblock a member at any time. If you are experiencing severe harassment from another member, be sure to report it by sending an email to info@MIXTT.com with "Harassment" in the subject line.

14. Browser Compatibility: MIXTT works best with latest versions of Internet Explorer and Firefox. Safari may reduce some of the functionality.

15. Changing Your Key Information: If you need to adjust your username and/or password, you can do so in Settings. All other changes, including location, happen in Edit Profile.

16. Hiding vs. Closing Your Account: If you ever want to take a break from MIXTT, you can elect to hide your profile in Settings. You do not have to cancel your membership and restart. We will remove your profile from view, and you can unhide it and rejoin the fun at any time. If you want to end your membership, you can also close your account at any time.

17. Forgot Username/Password: Click the link in the Sign In box on the homepage. We will email you right away with the information you need to log in again.
